German Open F3K 2012

Öppna Tyska mästerskapen 2012 var nu i helgen 20 - 22 juli. Det är den tredje största tävlingen efter VM och EM, och samlar europas elit inom F3K. Sverige var representarat av Mattias Hammaskiöld, Peter Jubel, Jonas Blomdahl, Johan Sjöborg och Håkan Sjöberg. Glädjande nog så tog sig både Mattias och Peter till finalen, som tydligen blev ordentligt dramatisk.

Citat från Alex Hoekstra, skaparen av Twister serien av F3K plan, som beskriver lite av finalen och särskilt Mattias flygning i pokern:

"This was one to never forget anymore. The Field in Mücke was situated on a aprox.50 meter high hill. With the wind it sometimes had some slope soaring possabilities but with all the thermal influence and shifting of the winds it could disapear in seconds also.

Just a short story about the Fly -offs. Tasks were 3 x 3.20, Poker and a.u.l.d. At the countown of the first start the wind suddenly changed towards the leftside of the field so about half of the group directly went to the left and finding sink only . I was one of them and landed out after 80 seconds or so in a desparet attemt to find something better downwind. After that it suddenly went very well for me. I was able to fly out the rest of the time in 3 attemts and Poker came up fore the next flight.

With nothing to loose i called 9.58 and made it in the light constantly disappearing thermals. Never more high then about 100 meter and several times picking up thermals from half the launch highed it wasn't easy but i pulled it off. Several pilots that called longer times dissapearde deep into the valley and landed out.

Mattias Hamerskiold was one of the pilots that had to go into the valley and kept on flying unil maybe 10 feet from the bottom of the valley about 50 meters below starting level. With about like 1 minute to go he found a thermal that gave him a very quick ride up again and even made it to almost 100 meter high over the field before the workingtime was over. Of course a big applause came on when he landed safe into the fieldboundaries.

The auld wasn,t easy also. During the countown of the second flight the wind changed towards the leftside of the field again and again i went there to find myself into troubles. A safe over the tarmac runway downwind of the field from 10 feet high with almost still 2 minutes to go wasn't easy but i pulled it off to land into the field at the end of the workingtime.

Peter Jubel - 8e plats. Med 99,55 procent.
Jonas Blomdahl - 19e plats. Med 96,07 procent.
Håkan Sjöberg - 24e plats. Med 95,17 procent.
Johan Sjöborg - 33e plats. Med 90,69 procent.

Flyoff:

Mattias Hammarskiöld - 3a! Med 98,92 procent.
Peter Jubel - 12e plats. Med 56,09 procent.

Mycket kul med bra resultat för dessa herrar i den konkurensen. Och ett stort grattis till Mattias.
